Make-up is an ever-popular gift and plenty of us will have lots of new make-up after this Christmas. But what if we’re not the best at applying it? If you’ve been given make-up as a gift this year but don’t feel confident that you really know how to use it properly, don’t despair, help is here!
One of the most important make up tips to take into consideration is to ensure your skin is primed and ready before you even begin. This means making sure it is clean and smooth. Use a facial wash rather than a soap, which could dry out your skin, and moisturise using a quality product, such as Olay. You can now begin to apply your make-up.
Choose a foundation that matches your skin colour as closely as possible. Ghostly white and bright orange are not great looks for anyone. You can test out foundations before you buy by using tester products on the back of your hand to ensure the colour is a good match. For dark circles under the eyes, as well as spots and blemishes, follow the same rules for concealer. Some people prefer liquid concealers, others prefer sticks, so experiment to see which types of products you prefer.
An important make-up tip is to keep make-up brushes and other make-up applicators clean. Wash them regularly and replace when they begin to get old to ensure you’re getting the most out of them and to avoid spreading dirt around your face instead of make-up!
Bronzer or blusher applied on the cheek bones with a make-up brush can add definition to your face, or you may prefer a cream blush that can be applied with your fingers. Finish your look with a lengthening and separating mascara and add eye shadow for a glam night-time look!
