Maximizing Childcare Benefits: A Guide to Tax-Free Childcare Accounts and House of Fun

Balancing work and family life can be a challenging task. One of the most significant concerns for many working parents is the cost of childcare. In the UK, the government recognised this issue and in 2017, introduced a tax-free childcare account to help eligible families ease the financial burden of childcare expenses. However, there are still many people who aren’t aware of this account and are therefore missing out on a government funded payment of up to £2000 a year (or £4000 if your child is registered disabled).

How to Use a Tax-Free Childcare Account

  1. Eligibility Check

Before getting started, it's essential to determine if you are actually eligible for a tax-free childcare account. Eligibility criteria typically include being a working parent, having a child under a certain age, and meeting specific income and immigration requirements. Check the official government website (https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare) for the most up-to-date information.

2. Set Up Your Account

In order to set up your account, you’ll be required to provide your personal information, including your name, address, and income details.

3. Make Contributions

Decide on the amount you want to contribute to your tax-free childcare account. However, you should be aware of the annual and monthly contribution limits that are set by the government.

4. Government Contributions

For every £8 that you pay into this account the government will pay in £2 to use to pay your provider.  You can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 30 hours free childcare if you’re eligible for both.

5. Choose House of Fun

Once your tax-free childcare account is funded, you can use it to pay for childcare services at House of Fun, whether it is an after school club or a holiday camp.
